Learn more about Ants on the BLOG

The table below provides a brief overview of each ant species, and reasons for pest control.

Understanding Ants in our Environment

Ants live in social colonies, with over 1,300 species found in Australia. These species vary in their habitats, behaviours, and food preferences.

Most ant species prefer to stay outside, living in soil, under rocks, or other outdoor spots. However, some ants are drawn inside your home, where they can enter roof spaces, wall cavities, or other areas. Ants come in a variety of sizes, ranging from as small as 1mm to 50mm in length. They have 6 legs, antennae, eyes, a mouth for chewing or holding things, possibly a stinger, and two pairs of wings if they are reproductive.

Fast facts:

The ants you see outdoors or heading to your pantry are female worker ants. These workers can’t reproduce and spend their time searching for food, bringing it back to the colony, and caring for the young in the nest.

Ants live in colonies that can range from just a few dozen individuals to tens of thousands.

Comprehensive Ant Pest Control: Treatment, Prevention, and Long-Term Solutions

Ants require professional treatment as there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Early detection, identifying the species, and removing food sources are key steps. We use specialised products that are low in toxicity to humans and pets, cause minimal disruption, and provide long-term control. Depending on the ant species, multiple treatments may be recommended for heavy infestations.
